Alexandros Mouzas - Greek composer

He studied composition with Theodore Antoniou, advanced theory with Haris Xanthoudakis and electronic music with Dimitris Kamarotos.

He has composed for various ensembles and has received commissions from organisations and orchestras.

Many of his works have also been performed by the Athens State Orchestra, Camerata, the Orchestra of Patras, the Kyiv Classic Orchestra amongst others.

He has collaborated with the choreographer Konstantinos Michos and the “Lathos Kinissi” dance group in many productions, among them “Trisha Never Left Home”, “Days of Vironas”, “Papageno” and “Calamity till the Dawn” and with “Airesis” Dance Company.

His professional activities include image-related music.  He has written original music for short films, television series, documentaries and commercials for most of the Greek television channels.

He was curator of the Greek National Opera Byron Cycle. (2020-21)

His professional activities include production management of various important CD releases of Greek orchestral music.

He runs his own production company, Anax – Cultural Projects, and Module Leader at the BA program of Music Technology at Μetropolitan College/UEL Athens. He collaborates with the Greek National Opera in organizing orchestras and ensembles for contemporary operas. (Weisse Rose, Leporela, Chodorkowsky)

He was the artistic director of the “Silent Films with Live Music Accompaniment Festival” at Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation, Athens (2010-2018) and the Live Music in Silent Films “enLIVE” project at Pharos Arts Foundation (2016-17), Nicosia-Cyprus. In addition, he has been coordinating the Festival of Sacred Music of Patmos since 2009.

He has conceived and coordinated the educational programs “Cammedia” and “S-[cool]-life” for high school students, and productions such as “Tribute to Iannis Xenakis” (Athens Festival), “Peter Maxwell Davies: Icones” and “Dream” (Megaron-The Athens Concert Hall). His latest music theatre piece, “City Lives”, was premiered at Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall in May 2014.

He was the artistic director of the Greek Section of the European program “New Media Edge Project” (2003).

In 2004 he composed under commission by the “Athens 2004” Organizing Committee, original music for the Athens Olympic Games corporate videos.

He is a member of the Greek Composers’ Union since 1998 and the Treasurer of its Board of Directors during 1999-2012.

NAXOS music label released the CD with orchestral works titled “Music for an imaginary film”, performed by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was the manager and founding member of the Ergon Ensemble (2008-2019)
