“Innerscape” was commissioned to be performed by the Athens State Orchestra and Viron Fidetzis on the occasion of their appearance in Istanbul.
This single-movement work can be divided in three sections, forming different sound and instrumental environments. The basic idea upon which this composition rests is not a specific melodic theme but rather the progression of texture on both horizontal and vertical dimension. The piece progresses from complex polytextural and chromatic layers of the first part, supported by a slow rhythmic background, to a fast and energetic third part with a virtuosic character on the part of the woodwinds and percussion.
